This exhibition, presented by Monira Foundation, features a series of post-2020 proposals by a range of international architects, considering Civic Space in contemporary terms. It asks the following questions: How can civic spaces be imbued with nuance? In what ways does such a quality persist in the city? Can one discuss intimacy in architectural terms?
Mana Contemporary invites Chicago-based visual artist, curator, educator, and musician Jordan Martins for a conversation about his practice at the Comfort Station, a multi-disciplinary art space.
Mana Contemporary Chicago is pleased to host Convictions in partnership with Monira Foundation. The exhibition features utilitarian sculpture, an art library, an intimate auditorium, and performance based on the creator’s grandfather’s legacy, along with works from artists who have run exhibitions or art spaces on either side of the Mexico/U.S. border.
This exhibition features works by Janhavi Khemka, Yae Jee Min, José Santiago Perez, Roderick Sawyer, Hope Wang, and Payton Harris-Woodard, curated by Cristobal Alday. In fantásticolismo, Alday explores the relationship between visual arts and poetry by combining written prose with the artists’ works as a curatorial response.
Monira Foundation proudly presents Jonas Mekas, Open Archives, a year-long exhibit at Mana Contemporary Chicago featuring artifacts, items, and memorabilia from Mekas’ personal archives.
